What is Code Club JHB?
Code Club is a computer programming/coding club initiated by Code Squad as a gathering place for coding enthusiast. Targeted towards kids of ages 7-15, this club offers them an opportunity to meet like-minded kids, learn by doing projects together, collaborate with each other on their projects, get help from mentors and meet new friends. We want the focus to be on self-learning through exploration and collaboration among kids. This is not a computer class but for the beginners we have many projects which we will teach them basics of programming.
What kind of things will I learn at the club?
A lot of things. For the beginners we will teach them things like digital story telling with coding, making your own animations, making digital art etc. Once you advance to the intermediate level you can learn new things/ new languages and even teach others.
Do I need prior coding knowledge?
No you do not need any prior coding knowledge but you should know your way around a computer, basic tasks like saving files, browsing, navigating etc. For the beginners we have many fun resources and projects which will teach them the basics of computer programming
What is the fee for joining the club?
This club is FREE for all to join.
What will I need to join the club?
Since this club is free for all to join, we are unable to provide computers/internet. So this club is run as a BYOD (bring your own device) program. You will need to bring your own laptop and an internet connection device.
When/where are the meet ups held and for how long?
Our target is to meet on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of a month. Sessions are normally an hour long. Meetings take place in Sandton, Johannesburg.
